Visa Requirements/ Documents to be attached with visa application
Persons traveling to India should be vaccinated against Yellow Fever (to be done at least 15 Days Prior to date of travel to India) and must carry the original Yellow Fever Certificate in person while traveling to India. In case the yellow fever certificate is found invalid/forged, the person may not be allowed entry and may be repatriated back to South Sudan by health/immigration authorities at the destination Indian airport.
Following documents need to be submitted to apply for Indian visa.
For All types of visa
A hard copy of visa application form submitted online and duly signed.
Two color photographs (with a white background).
Signature on visa application and on the Passport should be same.
Certificate of Good Conduct / Character Certificate / Police Clearance Certificate issued by concerned Ministry of Interior/CID/Police authorities of South Sudan.
In case the applicant is not a national of South Sudan, a forwarding letter issued by the respective embassy in South Sudan.
In addition, following documents are required to be attached for respective visa types :
1. Medical Visa/ Medical Attendant Visa
Preliminary medical advice from a South Sudanese Doctor/Hospital
Reference/invitation letter from a reputed specialized hospital/ treatment center in India identifying the patient seeking treatment in India and accompanying attendant along with a copy/reference of online ‘Ayush Visa’ applied by the concerned hospital in India.
Applicant’s bank statement or affidavit along with bank statement of the sponsor/parent/guardian.
[Note - Medical Attendant Visa is granted to the spouse/children/ blood relatives of the patient]
2. Student Visa (including for those going under ICCR scholarship)
All foreign students who wish to study in India, need mandatory registration on the ‘Study In India’ portal https://studyinindia.gov.in/ and submit the required information on the portal. Upon registration, the portal generates a unique ID or 'SII-ID' which must be quoted on the student visa application.
Eligibility/Admission Letter from a recognized educational institution in India.
(Both in original and photocopy).
Original mark sheet / Graduation Certificate of qualifying examination issued by relevant authority in South Sudan duly attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation South Sudan (Both on the original and a photocopy).
Applicant’s bank statement or affidavit along with bank statement of the sponsor/parent/guardian.
For renewal of Student Visa -
Student Visa earlier issued (for students already studying in India and applying for visas for going back after mid term/semester break)
Certificate from the Educational Institute where already studying in India.
Residential permit/Exit permit issued by the District Police or FRRO in India (Both in original and Photocopy).
College Identity card
Candidates are required to provide the AICTE/UGC Affiliation Certificate of the University concerned for the current academic year.
3. Research Visa
Eligibility/Admission Letter from a recognized educational institution in India. (Original and photocopy)
A detailed synopsis of the research project, countersigned by the sponsoring institution in India
Degree Certificates (Original and photocopy).
Bank statement in the name of applicant or an undertaking along with bank statement from parent/local guardian.
4. Entry Visa [for visits not covered by other type of visas such as for professional work, meetings, study tours, sport events or long stay etc.]
Letter by the local company/institution in South Sudan giving brief profile of the company/institution, identifying the applicant, sponsoring him and specifying the purpose of the visit.
Supporting document from the inviting/host company/organization in India.
Bank statement in the name of applicant or an undertaking along with bank statement from parent/local guardian.
5. Diplomatic Visa/ Official Visa
Suitable Note Verbale from Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan.
For diplomats/officials from other countries/international organizations working in South Sudan a Note Verbale from the respective Embassy/ international organization along with a copy of appointment/deployment order or invitation letter from the host organization in India.
Copy of air passage bookings.
6. Tourist Visa
Confirmed return air tickets
Copy of hotel booking
7. Business Visa
Letter by the local South Sudanese Company giving brief profile of the company, identifying the applicant, sponsoring him and specifying the purpose of the visit.
Letter of invitation (sponsorship/invitation letter by host Indian Company).
Registration/GST Certificate issued to the Indian company by Ministry of Commerce of the Govt. of India.
Any one of the following document / certificate issued by relevant authority in South Sudan : Business Registration / Taxation / Chamber of Commerce
8. Transit Visa
Confirmed Air tickets.
Visas for country(ies) of destination.
9. Conference Visa
Letter by the local company/institution in South Sudan giving brief profile of the company/institution, identifying the applicant, sponsoring him and specifying the purpose of the visit.
A letter of invitation from the organizer/host of the conference. Wherever relevant, the visa officer may also seek proof of approval from relevant Indian authorities for holding the conference.
Confirmed return air tickets.
10. Employment Visa
Copy of the employment contract from the company/organization in India.
Bank statement in the name of applicant or an undertaking from parent/local guardian.
Letter of sponsorship from the Employer in India, giving brief profile of the company, identifying the applicant, sponsoring him and specifying the purpose of the visit.
11. Journalist Visa
Only for professional journalists, media support crew and photographers.
Letter by the local company/institution in South Sudan giving brief profile of the company/institution, identifying the applicant, sponsoring him and specifying the purpose of the visit.
Supporting document from the inviting/host company/organization in India.
